Philanthropy
For those who enjoyed or resented my forays against philanthropy last year, a couple of lovely quotes I've recently discovered:
Philanthropist: A rich (and usually bald) old gentleman who has trained himself to grin while his conscience is picking his pocket.
- Ambrose Bierce
Philanthropic people lose all sense of humanity. It is their distinguishing characteristic.
- Oscar Wilde
Humour aside, I believe there is genuinely some truth in both.
